ADE Survey of UK Heat Networks and Pricing

The ADE is conducting a survey on UK heat networks and pricing in response to the energy price crisis.

Due to the ongoing geopolitical situation and its effects on energy prices, the Association for Decentralised Energy is working with the Government on measures to support the heat networks industry. The Government has indicated that they understand that the situation is disproportionately hurting both suppliers and consumers on heat networks and that the sector needs support beyond the existing Energy Bills Rebate. We are meeting the Business Secretary and Energy Minister, along with other key organisations, to discuss the impact on the heat network sector in late March. 

Therefore, in order to make the strongest and most evidence-based case to Government for additional measures of support, we are asking that you complete this survey. Our primary goal is to get as clear an understanding as possible of the nature of the heat networks market in the UK in terms of business models, number of consumers supplied by each of these models, the prices that both consumers and suppliers have been paying for energy this financial year and the previous financial year, and what prices they are either contracted or projected to be paying until the end of the 22/23 financial year.  

This information is critically important to make the case to Government for additional support so we strongly urge you to provide as much information as possible. Furthermore, please do share this survey with heat network operators who are not ADE members. 

However, it is important to stress that this completed survey should only be returned to the ADE directly at the email address kieran.sinclair@theade.co.uk. This is vital to ensure data protection for commercially sensitive information. We strongly recommend using a document password, for which you can find instructions here and sending the password in a separate email to the survey. 

All information will be held centrally by the ADE in order to comply with data protection law and competition law and will only be disclosed in an anonymised format to the attendees of the meeting.
