Ken Gordon is Chief Technical Officer for Ground Source and Ambient Heat Networks at ADE: Heat Networks and a Chartered Mechanical Engineer whose career has spanned building services, overseas development, iron and steel, agricultural mechanisation, food and drink, and the oil and gas sector, where he served as Technical Authority. An entrepreneur, he established Filpumps, which he grew to become Scotland’s largest private water treatment company.
A former CEO of the Ground Source Heat Pump Association, Ken has been instrumental in advancing the adoption of Shared Ground Loops, authoring technical guidance and policy papers to support their integration into low-carbon heat strategies. He is Executive Author of the 2025 revision of CIBSE TM51 – Ground and Water Source Heat Pumps, the UK go-to publication for ground source.
Ken contributes actively to both UK and Scottish Government policy development and serves on the GEMINI board, the All-Ireland Geothermal Programme. In his spare time Ken is a Community Councillor and trustee of Scottish charitable organisations which focus on community climate action and tackling fuel poverty.
