Genius Energy Lab

Genius Energy Lab (GEL) is a UK-based consultancy that specialises in designing large-scale commercial and residential ground source heat pump (GSHP) systems. With roots in real-world contracting and supply-chain experience, their design-only approach enables them to collaborate with manufacturers, developers, M&E contractors, housing associations, and public-sector projects.

  

Leveraging over two decades of industry expertise, GEL offers comprehensive feasibility studies, geological analysis, and tailored engineering design services, including installation-stage specification guidance to help stakeholders integrate GSHP technology smoothly across every RIBA stage.

  

At its core, GEL aims to redefine heating and cooling by reducing dependency on legacy energy systems and accelerating decarbonisation through advanced geothermal solutions. They’ve earned recognition as a 5‑star AECOM supplier, also providing services to customers such as Microsoft, Kensa Group, Hoare Lea, Dodd Group and the UK Government.

  

Beyond engineering, the GEL team are advocates and educators: producing industry-first guides, hosting webinars, and contributing thought leadership to shift perception, policy and adoption around GSHPs.
